Dreamer. Coco Morier

Nowadays is not so common find a new good artist in the new album releases. But, in this case, Coco Morier (project of Nicole Morier, an American singer, songwriter and producer) is a great exception.

She is well known for been the songwriter of several artists like Britney Spears, Miike Snow, Selena Gomez, Sky Ferreira, Ellie Goulding and Demi Lovato, among others.

But, as she said in an interview with The Seven Hex, “I really wanted to find a way to express myself as an individual. I do a lot of pop songwriting for others, which is all good, but I wanted to get back to my own personal take on everything”. With this album debut, there are several songs which have a chorus that one can sing once and again.

There a lot of great songs pop, and also there are experimental ones. For example, is interesting how in several songs the synths are used, as in “Am I Normal” or in his French version “Suis Je Normal” where the synths mixes with a chorus in a great manner, that sometimes you feel this song new but no unknown, and has all the elements to be a great hit. “No Stranger (To Love)”, make us think a little bit in No Doubt.

By the other hand, in “All Cats are Gray” the ambiental sound of the synths let us think in Miike Snow, while “Take me to Detroit” has something of The Raveonettes sound. Even, Sune Rose Wagner said in his Twitter account that he participate in this album.

Finally our question is why Coco Morier waited so long for release his first LP. We want to listen more about this artist which defined herself as the satellite of love in a shifting blackhole between commercial and independent music, in an old interview with blahblahblahscience.
